The ‘Consejería de Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo Rural de la Junta de Comunidades’ of Castilla – La Mancha (The Council for Environment and Rural Development of the Autonomous Community Council of Castilla – La Mancha) promotes a LIFE project, co-financed by the European Union and aimed at reducing the environmental impact of sludge generated by wastewater treatment plants (EDAR -‘ Depuradoras de Aguas Residuales’), by means of suitable management and recycling techniques for its reuse as raw material for the ceramic and construction industry.

This project has a double objective: it aims to eliminate the pollution caused by sludge filtration into aquifers and greenhouse gas emissions, and to save energy in the ceramic manufacturing process.
